National Trust of Australia Queensland (NTAQ)/ Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary (CWS) has accepted ownership of a generous gift of a parcel of land plus associated buildings. This is a tranquil and naturally heavily forested conservation reserve located in the Currumbin Valley. This 27-hectare wonderland features sub-tropical rainforests, running streams and views of the Mt. Cougal section of the world heritage listed Springbrook National Park. NTAQ plans to operate the reserve as a conservation facility for critically important wildlife species, along with restoration of the natural site to provide essential habitat for native species and to ensure it is safe guarded for future generations. We are seeking a Property Manager (or a management couple) with experience in Project Management and with a passion for conservation of both native flora and fauna. This is both a managerial and hands-on role, holding responsibility to physically care for the property, its assets and its visitors. NTAQ is a membership-based community organisation and registered charity that works to protect, conserve, and celebrate the Environmental, Built and Cultural heritage of our state and is affiliated with the Australian and international National Trusts. The NTAQ collection is a portfolio of 14 properties across QLD including the iconic Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.  Details about this Position:   This multi-faceted position will report to the General Manager of Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. The successful candidate(s) will have knowledge of and experience in leading land management programs for conservation including fire, weed and feral animal control. In addition, you will be committed to helping this newly acquired property develop into a model for conservation, by building and maintaining professional working relationships within NTAQ and external stakeholders. Key areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:You will be responsible for the overseeing entire property operations including supervising staff and volunteers, implementing and managing WHS procedures including first-aid, operational planning and working with budgets.Have a broad general knowledge of trades and practical skills in relation to asset and infrastructure repair and maintenance, with the ability to use a range of plant and equipment.Supervise and participate in land regeneration duties in order to deliver the outcomes of the approved vegetation management plan.Provide supportive management, regular communication, and direct support to the onsite team which includes passionate volunteers.Maintain the property to the standards expected by NTAQ, including the overall presentation of the site.Undertake or organise maintenance of the property’s structures and facilities as required.Manage and oversee waste management for the site including the separation and removal of waste streams as appropriate.Manage and collect supplies and equipment, liaising with CWS operations staff as required.Liaise with the CWS Life Sciences Manager and Wildlife Keepers for onsite ex-situ breeding programs and in-situ programs.Liaise with contractors and suppliers as necessary, managing the quoting and invoices process in accordance with the NTAQ Purchasing Policy.Provide hospitality to host various groups and visitors at the site, involving coordinating site tours and programs as required.Courteously and professionally liaise with a wide range of people including VIPs, Directors, NTAQ management, wildlife specialists, scientists, contractors, students, volunteers, neighbouring landholders, Indigenous community representatives and members from all levels of government. Role detailsThis role is located within a semi remote location at the Garima Conservation Reserve.Package benefits include a salary of $80K (plus super) (or $110K plus super for a Management couple), and includes accommodation, fully maintained vehicle and mobile phone.Double accommodation in an onsite managers’ flat is included as part of the salary package.Additional benefits include uniform provided and National Trust membership offering free entry to 800 properties worldwide including Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.Non-smokers preferred. Selection Criteria Previous experience with a Property Management or Caretaker position, preferably within an agricultural or conservation environment.Essential to be friendly, welcoming, self-motivated and able to work autonomously and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders.Knowledge and experience in leading land management programs for conservation including fire, weed and feral animal control is highly desirable.Has business skills to manage staff and rosters, budgets, purchasing, performance and asset management responsibilities.Ability to use a range of plant and equipment including tractors, excavators, and other land care machinery. Willing to obtain a White Card certification.Proven leadership experience with ability to lead, manage, coach, and motivate a diverse work team.Has effective team organisation and friendly communication skills to achieve respect and rapport with team members from all levels of the organisation.Experience working within Horticulture and Wildlife sectors is highly desirable.Has project management skills involving high level of time management and ability to manage and prioritise several concurrent tasks whilst achieving deadlines.Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to share your knowledge, manage, motivate and inspire others.You will be an energised, diplomatic, highly capable, and personable individual with a genuine interest and passion for conservation.A current manual driver's licence is essential.High level of knowledge and genuine commitment to Workplace Health and Safety.Able to work outdoors in all weathers.Is a qualified Advanced First-aider or is willing to obtain this qualification.Has a suitable degree to physical fitness to perform various manual tasks and work across difficult natural terrain; a workplace that includes insects, mammals, birds and reptiles, including snakes.Will require current tetanus vaccination, with vaccinations for Hep A & B recommended.Management couple would be strongly encouraged to apply.        How to ApplyYour application should include your resume plus a brief cover letter stating how you meet the Selection Criteria.  Applications will only be accepted via the online application form on our website: https://currumbinsanctuary.com.au/corporate/employment AUD Currumbin 4223
