If this sounds like you, please read on. The Currumbin Wildlife Hospital is currently seeking a passionate and experienced Wildlife Veterinary Nurse to join our team on a part-time basis. The Hospital prides itself on providing the highest level of care possible to our patients and the successful candidate will join a team of 7 veterinarians and 30 vet nurses. Position details & duties:This role will be Responsible for providing an exceptional standard of health monitoring, clinical nursing, and husbandry care. Demonstrate and undertake safe capture and restraint techniques of both native and exotic species.Assist veterinarians during examinations and clinical/surgical procedures.   Undertake laboratory diagnostic procedures, including sample collection and storage.Calculate, prepare and administer medications, including anaesthetics, under veterinary instruction.Maintain veterinary medical and surgical equipment; keep associated maintenance records - reporting on issues as required.Undertake associated administrative duties including recording and maintaining clinical treatment files, laboratory diagnostic test results and booking appointments.Demonstrate a strong commitment to wildlife/exotic clinical nursing education.Assist with the teaching of Clinical EMS, Veterinary Nursing/Tech students, and volunteers.Liaise with carers, and members of the public with regards to the animals in your care.This is a Permanent Part Time position working a minimum of 16 hours per week with the possibility of additional hours including some evening work.Pay rate and conditions are under the Amusements, Events & Recreation Award 2020, with the pay grade dependent upon level of experience and qualifications.Must meet COVID-19 vaccination requirements set by QLD Government Public Health Order Directive. Selection Criteria:Certificate 4 of Veterinary Nursing preferred or equivalent recognised qualification.Strong understanding, knowledge and practical clinical nursing skills of zoo, exotic & native wildlife speciesIdeally two or more years of post-qualification experience in the Veterinary industry working with wildlife and exotic species.Can demonstrate a highly flexible, cooperative and positive attitude.Has high level of time management and organisational skills with a genuine ability to multitask.Has a professional approach to duties and standard of personal presentation.Must be comfortable undertaking media tasks, tours of the hospital/presenting to small groups.Must have very capable computer skills.Can liaise and communicate in a friendly and effective manner with all key contacts including internal department staff, volunteers, external local community groups and associated veterinary contacts.A knowledge and understanding of the key elements of Currumbin Sanctuary Wildlife Hospital and Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is desirable. How to Apply:Your application should include your resume plus a brief cover letter stating how you meet the Selection Criteria.  Please click on this link to be directed to our employment website: http://www.cws.org.au/employment AUD Gold Coast
