As stewards of this extraordinary heritage site, our museum officers play a pivotal role in ensuring an enriching guest experience and overseeing the property.Join us in preserving the past and creating memories for generations to come.  About the RoleYour primary responsibilities will be to warmly welcome and guide visitors through the property, sharing captivating stories about the collection items to both engage and educate them on the comprehensive history of the region. Your role will involve reporting directly to the property Supervisor and collaborating within a close-knit, friendly team.Embracing the diverse responsibilities, you will perform tasks such as conducting informative site tours, delivering exceptional customer service, handling retail sales transactions, managing cash, handling administrative duties, and contributing to the care and maintenance of the collection. Your work hours will exhibit flexibility, adapting to seasonal variations. Weekend availability is essential, and you may be required to cover leave periods for other members of the Museum staff, contributing to the seamless operation of this cultural institution.About YouTo excel in this position, it is crucial to have a proven track record of presenting information in a captivating and enjoyable manner that resonates with guests of all ages and nationalities. Other key skills and qualifications we are looking for include:In-depth local knowledge of the town and regional attractions.Flexible availability, including working during school holiday periods.A positive and friendly demeanour, serving as a vibrant ambassador for the National Trust, with a well-groomed appearance.Prior experience in effectively collaborating within a small team, demonstrating cooperation, the ability to follow instructions without constant supervision, and the initiative to complete tasks independently.Exhibit a flexible and cooperative "can-do" attitude, coupled with a friendly, motivated, and composed manner. Capable of handling minor customer complaints with ease.Proficiency in cash handling and sales, given the presence of a small retail department within the museum.Robust health and fitness, enabling you to walk distances, stand for extended periods, carry loads up to 10kg, climb stairs, and work in hot conditions.
