We are seeking an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person to join our friendly Education team at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, the largest property within the National Trust Australia Queensland (NTAQ) family.  Here at NTAQ, our workplace values are to be Welcoming, Efficient, Safety and Fun, so if this is how you like to work, please read on.  Our Education team delivers a variety of programs including hosting school visits at the Sanctuary, conducting outreach programs in schools, delivering community courses, hosting school holiday programs, and appearing at community events.  We are seeking a passionate and friendly presenter to develop and deliver content on Indigenous culture plus on Australian wildlife conservation topics. This is an Identified Position (see point 10 below). Position details & duties This role will focus on developing and delivering education sessions on Indigenous culture to audiences ranging from internal team members to school students (ranging from pre-school to tertiary level, including international students).This is initially a Casual role, but with the intention to transition to Part Time as business needs grow.Have interest to provide advice and guidance to the organisation on indigenous matters.Additional duties will include assisting the Education team with other programs as required.Some off-site work will be required to participate in conducting outreach education programs at schools and at events.General administrational duties will be included in this role i.e., lesson plans and program bookings.It is an expectation that the successful candidate will participate in training activities which may include accredited training and associated study.This role will require some animal handling in relation to presenting wildlife content. Full training provided.Pay and work conditions are Grade 4-6 of the Amusements, Events & Recreation Award 2010.Preferred start date for this role is as soon as possible.For more information, please see our website: http://www.cws.org.au/education Selection Criteria: Connection to and knowledge of Indigenous culture is required to deliver the content of this role. Local knowledge is highly desirable.Must be confident and preferably experienced in being able to present information in a memorable, informative and interesting way to children aged 3 – 18 years & to international groups.Must have flexible availability necessary to deliver successful outcomes for this role – this includes working over school holiday periods and occasional weekend work.Health & fitness to deliver all requirements of the role, ability to walk distances and carry loads up to 10kg is essential.Current Blue Card or eligibility to obtain a Blue Card (or exemption) is essential.A driver’s licence is essential.Previous experience in developing and/or delivering Indigenous educational experiences is desirable.Must be genuinely interested in Australian wildlife and related conservation issues.Wildlife handling experience or willingness to be trained in handling wildlife is required.*IDENTIFIED POSITION - To perform this role it is essential that the person who holds the position be an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person.
