Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary (CWS) is located on the Southern end of Gold Coast. We are the largest attraction within the National Trust of Australia (Queensland) portfolio and feature a vibrant and varied collection of Australian and Exotic Wildlife and located one block back from beautiful Currumbin beach.We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Wildlife Officer to join our Bird team. This role will involve achieving a high level of avian husbandry and having a keen eye for detail.  The successful applicant must hold or be studying Cert III Captive Animal Management. Of equal importance, you must be able to deliver high levels of customer service in an energetic, friendly and professional manner within a busy work environment. Details about this Position: Duties for this role includes, but not limited to; bird husbandry, bird health, exhibit maintenance, keeper talks and other duties as required.  The Wildlife team are seeking professional applicants who will be energetic and enthusiastic and will have a high level of bird knowledge and skills.This is a permanent position working 38 hours per week.Weekend work will be required for this role, therefore availability for weekend work is essential of this role.Pay rate and conditions are under the Amusements, Events & Recreation Award 2010.This is an outdoor role in a non-smoking environment. Selection Criteria:Must have, or be currently working towards Certificate 3 Captive Animal Management or equivalent.Wildlife handling, husbandry skills and previous experience as a Bird Keeper is essential.Can deliver a high level of friendly customer service to all domestic & international visitors.Has a high level of energy, communication skills and teamwork skills.Appropriate fitness to walk long distances, stand for long periods and ability to carry / support up to 10kg for a prolonged period.Manual Driver’s licence & current First Aid qualifications would be an advantage.Must be flexible and reliable with a positive ‘can-do’ attitude in our team environment.High standard of personal presentation is required.We are a 7 day a week operation.
